The Hard Brexit Exit

10 Oct

Good thoughts and points here on Rod’s blog.I can concur with him.

As we await the beginnings of the hard brexit exit that the Tories seem hell bent on pursuing with the Article 50 sign off in around late March according to Theresa May.
I have been taking some time to consider what it all appears to mean, and to reflect both on the Indyref campaign of 2014, and looking forward to a new one once the Article 50 is put in place.
What do we actually know? What lessons are to be learned? How do we approach a new campaign once it begins?

What do we actually know? Well very little so far, nothing has been openly discussed, either by the Tories who seem to be completely divided over what it all means and what they actually want from it, or for that matter what do the SNP and the Scottish government want to do about it?

The Likely News – One – 5th May 2017

8 Oct

This looks about right Hmm,I wonder if the bookies are giving odds on what can be discovered?

5th May 2017 –

Glasgow City Chambers and the surrounding area has been cordoned off for reasons of public safety.

The drama began early this morning. After emerging victorious in the Council elections and winning control of Glasgow City Council, new SNP councillors entered the City Chambers and began to look at files previously unavailable to them relating to decisions and deals made by the city council over the last 60 years.

After the container which held the files was opened, a loud bang was heard, followed by otherwordly screams. Jim Murphy, 50, unemployed, was in George Square at the time and described the scene.

It was as if all the demons of hell* had been let loose and all the terrors of the past had come out to get us.

People fled the scene as cars swerved and there were collisions in the confusion.

As yet there is no…

Beware the Perfidious Scots

7 Oct

Another comment is up on the original blog.Condensed wonderfully and a few corrections,re previous comment,I think all information and analyses is welcome, for me anyhow. It is a needed read for many people maybe for some who never bother to read too much.

As Theresa May and her Tory government continue to channel their Inner Mein Kampf, in their headlong charge to a Hard Brexit a large section of Scottish Scottish society has looked on in a mixture of abhorrent disbelief and a sense of anger at the betrayal of common human decency.
Many Scots pride themselves in their innate sense of justice, fairness and the brotherhood/sisterhood of the common man/woman.
To see such xenophobia so openly displayed by those who would presume to rule over us, is not what the majority of Scots of all backgrounds and history would hope for, nor what many of the new Scots who have made their home and life among us would desire either.

Theresa May in her highlighted speech has made it perfectly clear that the promise made by Better Together of Scotland being valued as equals in Union is nothing short of hogwash. When…

I was YES now I’m NO

6 Oct

I left this in answer to someone who said they had changed to no from yes because they want out of the EU as well as the UK:So in all honesty you want independence but will vote no to gaining independence? I find it difficult to believe that anybody can say I want everything on my terms or I’ll spoil it for everybody else! You cant get out of the EU and the UK at the same time one has to come first and I do think you really know this,it must be the UK we dissolve first, only then will we be able to vote, and have all of our votes count,to be in or out of the EU.Let me pose it this way to you;If we manage to get the Union of the UK dissolved, and then the majority vote to stay IN the EU will you pack up and move to England,Wales or Northern Ireland?

Auld Acquaintance

I have noticed recently some folk making the statement that they voted YES during the last Indy referendum, but that they would now vote NO because Scotland is against Brexit.
They justify this about turn by stating….

I wont vote yes again if they go against brexit
I want to be ruled by Scotland not Europe

My very simple response to such an argument has been as follows

” No….you want to be ruled by Westminster…get it right!”

These people are not trolls, they genuinely do take that attitude. I know, because I know some of them personally.
Of course they will be encouraged by real trolls who will back them up and pretend that they too voted YES but are now voting NO.

Why then should it be that the genuine ones have taken this about face?
Some admittedly only want and have ever wanted…

Scottish Home Secretary Speech

6 Oct

So who would be up in arms over this sort of a speech?

Auld Acquaintance

Today, I am announcing that from December, landlords that knowingly rent out property to people who have no right to be here will be committing a criminal offence. They could go to prison.

Furthermore, from December, immigration checks will be a mandatory requirement for those wanting to get a licence to drive a taxi.

And from next autumn, banks will have to do regular checks to ensure they are not providing essential banking services to illegal migrants.

Money drives behaviour, and cutting off its supply will have an impact.

However, the difference between those arriving and those leaving is still too substantial.

I believe immigration has brought many benefits to the nation. It has enhanced our economy, our society and our culture.

This is why I want to reduce net migration while continuing to ensure we attract the brightest and the best.

Because it’s only by reducing the numbers back…

Media Repetition

5 Oct

A blog to be shared with as many people as you can.More needs to be done to show the people what the government is up to with the connivance of the media.

Carrying on from my last piece on the subject of Sovereignty.

I noticed again tonight on STV Theresa May being interviewed on the subject of Brexit.
This by itself is not in the slightest bit unusual, after all it is the subject of the day at the moment and for quite some time to come I would imagine.
During the Interview with Harry Reid, May was once again asked if she would allow Scotland to have another Independence referendum.
Not at all surprisingly she answered to the effect of, Scotland has already had a referendum and they answered it by deciding to remain with the union.
That as far as she was concerned was a settled matter and Scots should not have another Independence referendum, but rather the Scottish government should focus on taking part in Brexit.
By taking part, she meant do as she tells them. She again made…

The Question of Sovereignty

4 Oct

No need for me to add anything.

Auld Acquaintance

In her first speech as leader of the Conservative party as Prime Minister Theresa May came forth with the following:

“we will leave the European Union as one United Kingdom.  There is no opt-out from Brexit.  And I will never allow divisive nationalists to undermine the precious Union ”

“Whether people like it or not, the country voted to leave the EU.  And that means we are going to leave the EU.  We are going to be a fully-independent, sovereign country, a country that is no longer part of a political union with supranational institutions that can override national parliaments and courts.  And that means we are going, once more, to have the freedom to make our own decisions on a whole host of different matters, from how we label our food to the way in which we choose to control immigration.”

“The final thing I want to say about…

The Divisive Nationalists Dead Parrot

4 Oct

Great blog as usual, can we get the majority of us Scots to wake up and see what is happening,or will they as is normal for the sleeping Scots, try and believe the liars of Westminster? I think its too easy for some just to keep on believing or else they would have to admit to being fooled each and every time they have voted,or perhaps thinking is too much of an effort for them,it gets in the way of lying on the couch watching Britnat TV.The con-job is coming into its cover everything phase, show how great it was being British, only England has never been British, they (Westminster) have them thinking Britain is part of England. How they conquered the world and are entitled to be superior and be natural rulers.

Auld Acquaintance

bitter

Things I learned today:

Some Nationalists are extremely divisive
Article 50 will be implemented by the Conservative government before the end of March next year.
Therefore Britain will exit the EU by March 2019
There will be a Hard Brexit, meaning that Britain will not remain part of the European Single market.
Dead Parrots tell garbage jokes.
And Scottish Tory leaders have an extremely low estimation and derogatory attitude of  Scots people (although I kind of guessed that one previously)

Lets begin with Theresa May and her speech to the Conservative conference.

Theresa May ventured forth with the following:

“today we’re going to be hearing from David Davis, Priti Patel and Boris Johnson as we start to explain our plan for Brexit.  And the country will see that the Conservative Party is united in our determination to deliver that plan.”

“The referendum result was clear.  It was legitimate.  It was…
